The seers, whose sins have been destroyed, who are free from the duality of joy and sorrow, and who are engaged in the welfare of all beings, attain the state of Brahman-nirvana.

Lesson:

This verse describes the state of realization attained by the enlightened seers, or rishis. These individuals have transcended the cycle of birth and death and attained the ultimate state of liberation, known as Brahman-nirvana.

Firstly, Krishna mentions that these seers are "kṣhīṇa-kalmaṣhāḥ," meaning their sins or impurities have been destroyed. This implies that they have purified their hearts and minds through righteous actions, self-discipline, and spiritual practices, thereby eliminating the negative karmic impressions that bind them to the material world.

Furthermore, these enlightened beings are "chhinna-dvaidhā," which means they have transcended the duality of joy and sorrow. They no longer experience fluctuations of happiness and distress based on external circumstances. Instead, they remain steadfast and equanimous in all situations, rooted in the realization of their true nature beyond the transient realm of dualities.

Moreover, these seers are described as "yatātmānaḥ," indicating that they are self-disciplined and self-controlled. They have mastered their minds and senses, directing them towards the welfare of all beings. Their actions are motivated by compassion and a sense of universal brotherhood, as they work tirelessly for the upliftment and benefit of humanity.

By engaging in selfless service and dedicating themselves to the welfare of all living beings, these enlightened seers attain the state of Brahman-nirvana. Brahman-nirvana refers to the merging of the individual soul (Atman) with the ultimate reality (Brahman), resulting in the cessation of the cycle of samsara (birth and death) and the attainment of eternal bliss and liberation.

This verse emphasizes the importance of purifying the mind, transcending dualities, and selflessly serving others as essential steps on the path to spiritual enlightenment and liberation. It inspires individuals to cultivate virtues such as purity, equanimity, and compassion in their quest for self-realization and ultimate freedom.
