There, O Arjuna, one gains the ability to resolve past-life karma through yoga, and then, striving further, achieves perfection.

Lesson:

Krishna continues to explain the benefits of yoga practice. He explains that through the practice of yoga, one can attain the ability to resolve past-life karma (buddhisanyogam labhate paurvadehikam) and subsequently achieve perfection (samsiddhau).

The term "buddhisanyogam" refers to the union of intellect or wisdom attained through yoga practice. This wisdom enables individuals to understand and address the karmic imprints from past lives (paurvadehikam), which may manifest as obstacles or challenges in the present life. Through the clarity of mind gained through yoga, individuals can discern the causes and effects of their actions, leading to the resolution of past-life karma.

Krishna further emphasizes that by diligently persevering in yoga practice (yatate cha), one can progress even further (tato bhuyaḥ) towards spiritual fulfilment and self-realization. This indicates that the benefits of yoga are not limited to resolving past-life karma but extend to the attainment of higher states of consciousness and spiritual evolution.

The term "samsiddhau" signifies the attainment of perfection or self-realization, wherein the individual experiences a profound sense of harmony and liberation. This state of spiritual satisfaction is characterized by inner peace, joy, and a deep sense of interconnectedness with the universe.

Overall, this verse highlights the transformative power of yoga in facilitating spiritual growth and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Through disciplined practice and self-discipline, individuals can transcend the limitations of the material world and attain spiritual realization. It underscores the importance of perseverance, dedication, and commitment to the yogic path, leading to the ultimate goal of self-realization and liberation from suffering.
