Quickly he becomes righteous and attains lasting peace, O son of Kunti; affirm that My devotee never perishes. (9.31)
Lesson:
When a person sincerely embraces dharma (righteousness) and becomes devoted to the divine, they experience rapid spiritual growth and attain lasting peace. The phrase "kṣipraṁ bhavati dharmātmā" indicates that the individual quickly evolves into a righteous soul. This suggests that when one aligns their actions with moral and ethical principles, they progress rapidly on the spiritual path.
The verse also highlights the concept of shashvat shanti, or lasting peace. By following the path of dharma and devotion, one not only achieves temporary relief from worldly troubles but also experiences a deep and enduring sense of inner peace. This peace is not transient or fleeting but remains with the individual consistently, providing stability amidst life's ups and downs.
Lord Krishna addresses Arjuna as "Kaunteya," referring to him as the son of Kunti, to emphasize the familial bond and convey a sense of closeness and affection. Through this address, Krishna underscores the importance of trust and assurance in their relationship. He urges Arjuna to have faith in his teachings and promises.
The concluding statement, "na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati," asserts the unwavering protection offered to the devotees by the divine. Krishna assures Arjuna that those who sincerely dedicate themselves to him as devotees never perish. This assurance serves as a source of comfort and encouragement, instilling confidence in the devotee's heart.
In essence, this verse encapsulates the core teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, emphasizing the significance of righteousness, devotion, and the eternal protection provided by the divine. It inspires individuals to lead a life of moral integrity, unwavering faith, and devotion to attain spiritual attainment and lasting peace.
