O Arjun, even those who may be born of sinful wombs—women, vaishyas, and also shudras—attain the supreme destination by taking refuge in Me.

Lesson:

Shri Krishna imparts a profound teaching, in this verse, on the universality of spiritual liberation. Regardless of one's birth or social status, Krishna assures Arjuna that anyone who takes refuge in Him can attain the highest spiritual goal. Krishna addresses Arjuna as "Partha," a term of endearment meaning "son of Pritha," highlighting their close relationship and emphasizing the importance of this teaching for Arjuna. He explains that even those who are born in unfavourable circumstances, such as from sinful or lowly backgrounds, have the opportunity to attain liberation if they surrender to the divine.

The verse mentions three specific categories of individuals: women, vaishyas (merchants and traders), and shudras (labourers). In ancient Indian society, these groups were often marginalized or considered inferior in terms of social status. By including them in this teaching, Krishna emphasizes the universality of divine grace and the accessibility of spiritual liberation to all, regardless of societal norms or conventions. Krishna's message transcends social barriers and underscores the principle of divine acceptance and inclusivity. It highlights the fundamental truth that spiritual evolution is not limited by external factors such as birth, gender, or social status. Instead, it is determined by one's inner disposition, faith, and devotion to the divine. It underscores the universal nature of spiritual liberation and the boundless compassion of the divine, offering hope and encouragement to seekers from all walks of life to take refuge in the supreme consciousness and attain the ultimate goal of spiritual realization.
