Adolf Anderssen was a German chess master who was one of the leading players in the world during the mid-19th century. His aggressive and imaginative playing style earned him victories in several important tournaments, including the first international chess tournament in London in 1851. Anderssen's famous "Immortal Game" against Lionel Kieseritzky is still celebrated for its brilliance. His contributions to chess theory and his legacy as one of the greats of the game have cemented his place in chess history.
