Beilby Porteus was a British clergyman and social reformer who served as the Bishop of London in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Known for his strong advocacy against slavery and his efforts to improve the moral and spiritual life of the Church of England, Porteus played a significant role in the abolitionist movement.
