Cao Cao was a Chinese statesman and warlord during the late Eastern Han Dynasty and early Three Kingdoms period. As the leader of the Cao Wei state, he played a key role in the unification of northern China and laid the foundation for the future Wei dynasty. Cao Cao is also remembered for his contributions to Chinese poetry and literature, as well as his strategic acumen in military and political affairs.
