Carlos Castaneda, an American author, delved into mysticism and shamanism. His series of books, starting with �The Teachings of Don Juan� (1968), recounted his experiences with a Yaqui Indian shaman named Don Juan Matus. Castaneda's works blurred the line between anthropology, fiction, and spiritual exploration.
