Charles Evers, a civil rights leader and politician, worked tirelessly to advance the cause of African American equality and empowerment. As the brother of slain civil rights leader Medgar Evers, he carried on his brother's legacy, serving as mayor of Fayette, Mississippi, and continuing his advocacy for social justice.
