Charles Hamilton Houston was an American lawyer and civil rights advocate who played a crucial role in the legal strategy that led to the end of racial segregation in the United States. As a mentor to Thurgood Marshall, Houston's work in civil rights litigation laid the groundwork for landmark Supreme Court cases such as Brown v. Board of Education.
