Chuck Barris was an American television producer and game show creator, best known for creating "The Gong Show," "The Dating Game," and "The Newlywed Game." His unconventional and often irreverent approach to television made him a controversial and influential figure in the industry. Barris's memoir, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," added to his mystique, blending his entertainment career with claims of espionage.

"I could never do a show, or be a personality like Howard Stern, where you take all that heat from critics. What he does, he does, but the critical heat would crucify me."
