Janis Ian is an American singer-songwriter who gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s with her deeply personal and socially conscious music. Her breakthrough hit, "Society's Child," addressed interracial romance and faced controversy at the time, while her Grammy-winning song "At Seventeen" became an anthem for teenage angst and alienation. Ian's introspective lyrics and unique voice have earned her a devoted following. In addition to her music career, Ian is also an accomplished author and advocate for various causes, including literacy and civil rights.
