Martin Niemoller was a German clergyman and theologian, noted for his staunch opposition to the Nazi regime and his role in the Confessing Church. Niemoller's famous post-war statement, "First they came for the socialists...", reflects his commitment to speaking out against injustice and his advocacy for human rights. His courage and moral stance continue to be remembered as significant in the history of Christian resistance to totalitarianism.
