Muammar al-Gaddafi was a Libyan revolutionary and political leader who ruled Libya from 1969 to 2011. His regime was characterized by its authoritarian approach and a mix of Arab nationalism and socialism. Gaddafi's rule saw significant changes in Libyan society and international relations, but his tenure ended in a violent uprising during the Arab Spring.
