Simone Veil was a French lawyer and politician born on July 13, 1927. She gained fame for her advocacy of women's rights and her efforts to legalize abortion in France. Veil served as a minister in several French governments and was the first elected president of the European Parliament. She was known for her courage and determination in fighting for social justice. Veil's contributions to human rights and gender equality have made her a respected figure in French and European politics. She passed away on June 30, 2017, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and commitment to equality.
