Venerable Bede was an English monk and scholar born around 673 AD. He is best known for his work as a historian and theologian, particularly for his book Ecclesiastical History of the English People, which is a key source for early English history. Bede was also a skilled linguist and wrote extensively on various subjects, including science and poetry. He is recognized as a Doctor of the Church and is celebrated for his contributions to education and scholarship in medieval England.
