William Gass was an American novelist born on July 30, 1924. He was known for his innovative writing style and philosophical themes in his novels and essays. Gass's works, such as The Tunnel and On Being Blue, have received critical acclaim and have influenced contemporary literature. He was also a professor of English and a respected literary critic. Gass passed away on December 6, 2017, leaving a significant legacy in American literature.
