William Christopher Handy was an American musician born on November 16, 1873. He is known as the "Father of the Blues" for his contributions to the development of blues music. Handy's compositions, including "St. Louis Blues," have become classics and have influenced countless musicians. His legacy continues through the enduring popularity of blues music.
